The European Ocean Act aims to strengthen and modernise maritime spatial planning as a strategic tool that serves and implements the European Ocean Pact’s priorities through increased cross-sectoral coordination nationally and a better organised sea basin approach. It aims to improve ocean observation governance. It will reference relevant existing and binding targets, facilitate their coherent, effective implementation and streamline reporting obligations.
