The biotech sector is research-driven, fast-moving and requires substantial and continuous public and private investments. Biotechnology is an enabling technology, which plays a critical role in several areas of the EU economy. The Biotech Act will propose a series of measures aiming at creating an enabling environment to accelerate the transition of biotech products and applications from the laboratory to factory and to the market while maintaining the highest safety standards for the protection of the population and the environment.
