Revision of EU rules to protect the marine environment

The initiative, which follows the evaluation of current EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive, aims to increase the level of protection of the EU marine environment, simplify provisions & reduce administrative burden. It will lead to simplified rules & related implementation, improved data use, reduced reporting & more operational rules on the ground, without jeopardizing the environmental goals of the Directive to ensure that EU marine waters are clean, healthy, resilient & productive allowing the sustainable use of marine resources.
