Revision of the mandate of the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA)

ERA is key contributor to a sustainable, safe European transport system without frontiers. It issues single safety certificates to railway undertakings, vehicle authorisations and ERTMS track-side equipment approval. Following an evaluation, this initiative seeks to update the Agency’s tasks due to ERA’s growing role in safety and interoperability, the evolution of the legislative landscape since 2016, and the 2023 Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI) package.
